Oh, crop ratios. This is why some sizes work and other don’t. Not all crops are created equal! All new digital cameras use 2:3 ratio for their photos, so the 4×6 will look perfect every time! The dreaded 8×10 is from the old days when it was 4:5 ratio. This cuts off quite a bit of your photo and I highly encourage getting an 8×12 instead. Don’t worry, you can find frames online and in some stores! Framing hasn’t caught up with the times quite yet.
During your in home ordering session, I can show you what each crop will look like and advise to which would work best.
Below is a little cheat sheet to show you how different sized crops work. The lightened area on the sides are the parts of the photo we’d lose with that particular crop.
