I had the pleasure of photographing Astro, a 15-year-old yellow-brindle hound mix, and Ladybug, a 13-year-old mixed breed. Unfortunately, I have to report that Astro is no longer with us, which is why the post from this session is a bit delayed. His mom described him as a couch potato but a gentle sweetie, as well. His sweet nature and the special bond between him and his mom were evident just in the hour or so that I spent with them. We wanted to get a session in because his mom was worried he might not have a lot of time left. I’m so glad we got our session in and captured some photographs of Astro and Ladybug. Ladybug was a bit standoffish at first, which is totally fine! The pets are the ones in charge of the session and I adapt to whatever they prefer. She did warm up to me and the photo shoot, especially after getting some very delicious treats. It’s never easy hearing one of the pets I’ve photographed has passed, but I am always honored and humbled that I could provide memories that will last forever. To Astro…
